Hi I am Steve – Daddy to Lily

Lily is 4 years old, she was born 10 weeks premature and was born with low birth weight, Lily was given facial oxygen at birth and was admitted to the neo natal unit at Doncaster Royal infirmary where she stayed there for 4 weeks.

Lily is diagnosed Cerbral Palsy (spastic diplegia) which means the majority of her problems is with here legs, for those who do not about CP it is put simply small parts of the brain that are damaged which send mixed messages to muscles and in Lilys case her legs. These mixed messages contract and make the muscles spasm leaving very taught muscles which impede her movement.

Lily is a truely delightful little girl with a smile to light up the room, she gets on with things and has a determination to do things people to take for granted, it maybe a little unorthadox but never the less she finds a way.

Now the aim of the fundraising is so that Lily has a far better chance to walk unaided, she curently walks with a kaye walker (short distance) and is mainly wheelchair bound. There is a procedure available called selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) it was pioneered in St.Louis, United States and is now available in the UK. If you are interested here is the link http://www.scope.org.uk/help-and-information/z-therapies/selective-dorsal-rhizotomy

Although the procedure is available on the NHS, it is very difficult to attain the funding via the PCT. The private option is £1000.00 for an assessment(pre -op) the actual procedure costs approx £25,000.00. Pre and post operative physiotherapy cost around £50/hour with the post operative lasting around 2 years this would account for £10,000.00

Please give what you can for Lily she deserves the chance.

Thanks again

Steve & Lily x
